Brought to you by the Post Pop Movement, the traveling art show, Art and Soul, opened in New Paltz, New York, March 3rd at the Unison Arts and Learning Center. The show was sponsored by the Essential Art Gallery, principals of which are Grant Abrams, Judy Gonzalez, and Maureen Nelly, with support from the Ring.
Thirty canvases were shown which were painted in the SmogOpsTM Canteen by over 20 artists from the Grass Valley Graphics Group. Gessoed black and painted in the Post Pop primary colors, each artist renders their own vision of Post Pop, creating a highly diverse yet coherent display of exciting new works.
Seventy people came for the art show and music and poetry and refreshments. A reading of the play, TRIAD, by E.J. Gold, was presented as a finale to the evening’s festivities.
Art and Soul will remain with Grant, Judy and Maureen for the month of April and will be featured at the opening of their new shop, the “Essential Art Gallery” in Stoneridge, New York. The show will travel in May to Tamara Murray in Pennsylvania and move on to Fred Schill and Rose Ortiz in Chicago thereafter.
A second Post Pop show featuring Canadian artists will open in May with Jim Donald in Nelson, B.C. and travel in June to Jaswant Bains in Vancouver.
Meanwhile, Per Heiberg in Oslo, Norway, is selling Post Pop canvases from the color catalog, to members of an Art Buyers Group who are extremely pleased with the quality of the work.
