The American Book of the Dead
25th Silver Anniversary Edition
"Whatever the good that The American Book of the Dead may bring in terms of awareness in daily life in preparation for an after life or as a stimulus for visionary experience, I think that it undeniably recommends itself to us as a structured contemplative journey..."--Claudio Naranjo.
"Here in short form is the substance of basic human esoteric teachings given in modern language."-- John C. Lilly, M. D.
"Americans do not like to think about death, or read or write about it, much less think about preparing for it. E. J. Gold's book is an attempt to wake us up and get us ready for the greatest change of all, for the most important moment of our lives. This is a
groundbreaking work, definitely worth reading."--Andrew Weil, M. D.
"This unique book brings the Tibetan teaching into contemporary American culture. With special relevance to those who are sick and dying, this American interpretation of the timeless Tibetan spiritual classic is invaluable for anyone in spiritual crisis, preparing for death, or wishing to honor loved ones. The American Book of the Dead transforms
our attitudes toward death so that we may learn to live -- through explicit, practical instructions to guide readers along the labyrinthine voyage of spiritual transformation." -- Mike McDonnell
As you might deduce from the above, this is a pretty remarkable book. I have used it to do readings for loved ones who have died, and for those living who go through extraordinary trauma. For my part, it helped me to get closure on their passages, and for the beings involved, it felt beneficial. This book is a font of knowledge for spiritual seekers and healers. The artwork alone -- author E.J. Gold's interdimensional charcoals -- is worthy of meditative exploration. But don't take my word for it -- check it out.
IMHO (In my humble opinion) the American Book of the Dead is a book that should be in every home. Maybe just tucked on the shelf until you need it, 'cause when you need it you are sooooo glad you have it.
