History/Modern (Subhead: Basketball) -- Why would eggheads play basketball if they are so miserable at it? It offered them plausible and seemingly harmless--and legal--reason to congregate in a group of more than four. The only other valid excuses for meetings besides the state-approved sports are births, marriages and deaths, and if one has a lot to say to each other, you run out of all three sooner than you'd think. Professor Woo (my noble and worthy user) was nearly married off at fifteen so the eggheads could have an emergency sekrit cownsil session when the spore wars broke out back in '38.
