San Francisco moviegoers prefer the movie to the 'real' thing
While the Game starring Michael Douglas, throws audiences with its is-it-real-or-is-it-a-game? plot twists, audiences in San Francisco--where the film is set-- are getting an even bigger mind-bend. On leaving, moviegoers are approached by people who hand out cards with a ghostly image and the words "You have seen the movie, now play the real game."
No, it's not a gimmick of Game distributor PolyGram. It's the tricky promotion of the Bardo Training Center, a New Age-y group that believes that people,like Douglas's Nicholas Van Orton, must be shook up because they're not living true to their nature. It offers participants an environment of film, music,and dance that intends to inspire a Game-like "reality disturbance."
That's quite a stretch from the $70 million Hollywood free-for-all. But no matter: After handing out nearly two thousand cards, Bardo has only received a dozen calls -- it seems moviegoers would rather watch Van Orton go through the ordeal than play the game themselves. T.R.

LRS News Updating to be Speech Friendly
In an effort to make the LRS News pages easy for the blind and visually-impaired to browse we are making modifications to the structure so that line readers and speech synthesis software can more readible handle the text.
As it turns out much of our design is "Speech Friendly" as is. It will only require a small effort to convert each page to the appropriate format. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on one's outlook, we have over 1000 pages in the Slimeworld website. Thus there is a fair amount of work to be done.
If you would like to participate you are very welcome to jump on board the project. We need people with speech browsers and Lynx-like text-only browsers to explore the website tracking down the most offensive pages for priority fix.

49 Day Reading Cycle Begins on Sunday

It's that time of year again. 49 Day reading will start on Sunday, November 23. Join us for a twice daily reading from your favorite version of the American Book of the Dead. We will begin here at our community reading at 4:00 pm Sunday afternoon.

"That's why we decided to use the Holidays to focus on the American Book of the Dead in a particular way." It was Gateways' editor, Linda Corriveau, who came up with the idea of the GIVE AN ABD FOR XMAS CAMPAIGN. The whole point is to spread the ABD to as many people as possible and one unique way of reaching moreindividuals is to encourage all those who already own and benefit from the ABD and are familiar with how to use it, when to use it and so on, to share that inestimable treasure they hold in their hands with others who also have a profound need. "Just think how poorer you're life would be if you didn't have an ABD to turn to when you do. I don't know what I would have done without it for my sister and my father who recently passed away," said Linda Corriveau. "If every person who had received the blessings of readings could share that with a circle around them, we'd have a lot of happy people." One of the long-term goals of Gateways, the publishing arm of the Institute, is to have the ABD a common name in American homes.

Here's a quick download of the Atlanta Conference
We handed out 600 The Great Adventure, (thanks largely to P.Barry's 'at the post' position at the escalator in the main lobby), and solicited about 20 businesses for advertisements.In addition, 1 ABD, 1AHJ and 1AHJ Video were sold. We received lots of things to review, including the video of a performance which we saw entitled Mortal Coil, a one person/one act play which typifies powerfully-humorously some of the 'actors' in an inpatient hospice and which to be touring the country.
But other interesting stuff as well... several books, art programs, some computer stuff...and made good connect with Jim Nash who is webmaster of the more humble variety for Hospice Hands Links and eager to check out Cosmo and other environs.We alsoo got the aplication/info about 'call for presenters' for the conferences of next summer and fall, in Pgh. and Dallas respectively, will forward that to you PE. So it was a good experienza. Thats about all I can remember at this point without looking thru the mountain of papers behind me- brain still on lag- but just wanted to say hola and thanx fer the support- Grant Abrams

News Flash Chuck Yaeger Breaks Sound Barrier
50 years ago when Chuck Yaeger first decided to break the sound barrier in his plane, some folks feared that it was an impenetrable wall that would actually destroy the plane. And in many cases, this was true. Certain modifications to the vehicle were necessary in making the approach. Reminds me of approaching death. Moving through that barrier can be a smooth, seamless maneuver or an event that shatters the voyager. It's all in the approach.

Our New Mexico correspondent Ami reports that a group of 13 folks are half-way through the Labyrinth Readers Course. Some are there for their second time around and it is HOT!. Incorporated into this course are the use of corresponding light chambers, with the use of sound and movement.

A little piece of info concerning The Palace software
Thanks to Matthias Schossig for thinking of us all and sending in this little tidbit.
Info@info.thepalace.com has been sending out invitations to upgrade the palace software for free. In itself, this sounds like a nice offer, but it has one important hinch: the new version of The Palace apparently does not support the feature of logging into a local Palace server directly any more.
This means that everytime you want to log in - let's say Cosmo Street Prime - you have to go via a different - central - server which may be busy with loads of people that have things in mind that are not particularly interesting for you to say the least.
Whoever wants to save themselves the trouble (and annoyance) of this, should refrain from accepting the upgrade-offer and just stay with the old version which seems to do the job admirably well and serves our purposes most likely better than the new version.

Grant Abrams continues to expand his
hospice networking web. He is excited about hooking up with a
representative of the Hospice Hands organization in Atlanta. In this
news editor's mind, I visualize this as a three-dimensional form of
interlocking webpages floating around somewhere on the mysterious
ethers of the internet. Way to go Grant!
Saturday Night Movies
SmogOps Canteen continues its great run of Saturday Night Movies about
dead guys, being dead, things to do when you are dead, how to know if
you are dead, etc. Featured films include "The Innocents",
"Steambath", "Haunts of the Very Rich" and, of course, "Beetlejuice".

John Denver Died
Singing legend John Denver died on October 12th in Monterey Bay,
California after crashing in his plane. He is well-known as a
personal friend of God (a.k.a. George Burns) in: "God", "Oh God, You Devil", and perhaps an upcoming sequel after completion of a bit of afterlife research. John Denver
was born in Roswell, New Mexico. Coincidence?

When Iven Lourie sat down to do a bookseller's training video with Tito, Iven selected the Angels Healing Journey as the featured title in Gateways tool. They use AHJ as the "sample" book to mock up a bookstore sales call.

Burnsie is busy smooshing clay into little lumps in preparation for glazing and firing to produce another one of a kind necklace for the LRS. These necklaces have been such a hit with Labyrinth readers.
